Singaporean multidisciplinary artist Dawn Ng presents Atlantis II, an ongoing body of work that began in 2024.
23.05–04.10.2026
About the Exhibition
Atlantis II is an ongoing study of time’s influence on mark-making, where composite rocks of frozen pigments are allowed to melt and sink through stacks of Chinese rice paper. The dissolving pigments form soft islands on paper, evoking imagery of breath, islands, and sea, which first blossom and then disappear as they move deeper. Rooted in an interest in process, transformation, and fleeting beauty, the work uses ice as its primary material.
Ice is central to Ng’s artistic practice for its ephemeral nature, as a material that is inherently in a state of dissolution—a condition that becomes more perceptible in the tropical climate of Singapore, where she lives and works. Through this medium, she traces the passage of time, from presence to disappearance.
