About the Exhibition
'Pointing to the Synchronous Windows' is an exhibition that presents a Selection of Museum MACAN's Collection.
The works in this exhibition explores the dynamic relationship between the body and space, challenging the notion that their interconnections are neutral. By engaging with these themes, the exhibition highlights how artists navigate and question how bodies interact with and shape their surroundings.
The works in this exhibition explore the body's adaptability, resilience, and vulnerability, reflecting on how artists respond to its changing conditions. They also consider how bodily gestures can communicate meaning beyond words and causality, revealing the body's role in creating room for social and cultural expressions. At the same time, the exhibition examines how the flexibility in the concept of “body” challenges restrictions, disrupts imposed structures, and reclaims space, creating moments of resistance and liminal spaces. It further highlights the body's capacity to shape and be shaped by its surroundings, whether through movement, interaction, or technological extensions.
The exhibition will feature works from several Indonesian and international artists such as Ed Ruscha, Affandi, Ay Tjoe Christine, Kazuo Shiraga, Mark Grotjahn, Julian Opie, Pinaree Sanpitak, Yayoi Kusama, Lee Bul, Sudjana Kerton, S. Sudjojono, Lucio Fontana, and others.
