About the Program
Technology has become an inseparable part of everyday life. Museum MACAN invites collective artist Tromarama to share insights into their practice and works behind the exhibition, Ketok Magic. Hosted by Chabib Duta Hapsoro, Museum MACAN Curator, the session invites us to question what lies behind technology that feels so practical and familiar, and how its presence changes the way we work, interact, and understand the world.

Tromarama is an artist collective founded in 2006 by Febie Babyrose, Herbert Hans, and Ruddy Hatumena. Their work explores the intersections of technology, society, and everyday life. Working across various mediums, including video, installation, and interventions with everyday objects, their practice often examines the fine line between work and leisure within digital platforms.
Their practice investigates how online environments shape social behaviour and economic practices, while revealing the tensions and contradictions that emerge within this constantly evolving landscape. They are based between Bandung and Jakarta.
Their solo and group exhibitions include Upon A Machine, The Kitchen, New York (2026); Counterpublic: Coyote Time, St. Louis (2026); Ping Inside Noisy Giraffe, Songeun, Seoul (2025); For Children. Art Stories since 1968, Haus der Kunst, Munich (2025); Auto Ally, Document, Chicago (2024); Memory is an Editing Station, 22nd Biennial Sesc_Videobrasil, São Paulo (2023); Contraflow, Kiang Malingue, Hong Kong (2023); Personalia, ROH, Jakarta (2022); and Cloud Walkers, Leeum Art Museum, Seoul (2022).
