About the Artist

Adi ‘Asun’ Sundoro (b. Indonesia, 1992) completed his Fine Arts Education studies at Jakarta State University (UNJ) and Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) at the master's degree. His passion for printmaking has resulted in a combination of various printing techniques that are often presented in unconventional format or even expanded. In his works, Asun often utilizes the principles of printmaking as an expression in seeing the daily phenomena around him, ranging from daily trivial issues to social politics.

His works have been exhibited both nationally and internationally, among others: Egypt, Republic of Korea, India, Vietnam, Japan. Some have received awards such as the Public Prize Award at “The 1st International Kitchen Litho Contest” in France, winner of Basoeki Abdullah Art Award #4 in 2022 and Bronze Winner at the UOB Painting of the Year 2022 in the Established Artist category. His first solo exhibition titled “Bualan Ikan: Narasi-narasi yang Terseret Arus” was held at KKF Yogyakarta in 2019.

Since 2014 Asun has been actively involved in Grafis Huru Hara, a printmaking studio-based collective that focuses on the exploration, experimentation and education of printmaking. Asun lives and works in Jakarta, as a visual artist, Creative Director at The Distillery Asia and lecturer at New Media program, BINUS University.
