Syntax and the City with 97KoboLab invites audiences to explore a new way of creating music and visuals through live coding. As part of Algorapture, the program introduces creative coding as a medium for artistic expression, where lines of code become the building blocks for generating music and responsive visuals in real time.

As digital technology continues to shape contemporary creative practice, artistic expression is no longer limited to conventional media. Live coding offers a unique approach in which writing code becomes part of the performance itself. Through this workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of live coding using Strudel and Hydra.js to create music and audio-reactive visuals in real time, while discovering how technology can open new possibilities for collaboration, experimentation, and contemporary audiovisual art.

The workshop will begin with a guided tour of the Menelan Cakrawala exhibition, introducing participants to artworks that explore the relationship between art, technology, and society. Participants will then join a hands-on session with 97KoboLab to learn the basics of live coding and create simple musical and visual compositions using Strudel and Hydra.js. No previous coding experience is required—participants only need to bring a laptop and headphones or earphones.
