Become a young archaeologist and uncover hidden artefacts in Dig Deep: Mini Excavation!
31.05.2025
About the Program
As part of Kei Imazu’s exhibition The Sea is Barely Wrinkled, Dig Deep: Mini Excavation is a hands-on, sensory-based activity that invites children and families to take on the role of young archaeologists.
Each participant will receive their own mini excavation kit, containing layers of compacted material with a hidden “artefact” buried inside—similar to the popular dinosaur excavation toys. Using tools such as brushes and wooden picks, children will carefully uncover these objects, experiencing the thrill of discovery through sensory and curiosity.
This activity mirrors Kei Imazu’s artistic practice, which involves unearthing and reassembling fragments from various sources—ranging from colonial archives and ecological records to ancient myths and visual histories.
