Media X Space 2026 is an incubation and exhibition program initiated by BINUS School of Design and ARCOLABS. The program is open to artists, designers, academics, and communities across the Asia-Pacific region to reimagine our perspectives on time, ancestral knowledge, and our relationship with nature as a guide for navigating the future.

In collaboration with Museum MACAN, we present an intensive one-day workshop as part of the preparation series for the final exhibition of the incubation program, set to take place this coming October.

The Media X Space program prioritizes four key focus areas: Speculative Design & Sci-Fi (imagining future scenarios), Sustainable Design (responding to ecological crises and material exploration), Local Wisdom (integrating ancestral knowledge and local culture into contemporary design), and Interdisciplinary Science (works engaging with the fields of Physics and Biology). These four pillars serve as the foundation for developing artistic methods that are responsive to the needs and spirit of the times.

The workshop will explore ideas in critical thinking about ancestral wisdom in facing the future — the intersection of the present and tradition — by Ayu Utami; artistic development utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) by Prof. Ray LC from City University of Hong Kong; and artistic development on traditional technology and manual production by Adi Sundoro.

This program is suited for artists, designers, young creative professionals, and those with an interest in technology, art, and science. Slots are limited to 30 participants and are accessible with a special ticketing program.
