About the Speaker

Maria Stephanie, or Kak Steffi as she’s fondly called, is an independent researcher and writer specializing in local food, culinary traditions, and health. She began working in the field of local food in 2014, learning directly from farmers, producers, activists, and academics dedicated to the subject. She also holds a Master of Philosophy in Food Science.

Since 2020, she has been actively involved in several participatory research projects focused on documenting local food across various regions in Indonesia. She has published three books on the topic, including Dari Bumi Nusantara ke Piring Kita.

About the Speaker

Dr. Tan Shot Yen, M.Hum., is a medical doctor and public nutrition expert. She earned her medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine, Tarumanagara University in 1990, and a Doctorate in Community Nutrition from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia in 2014. Active on Instagram as a health educator and healthcare influencer, she regularly shares educational content on the role of local food in meeting nutritional needs, especially for growing children.

She has extensive experience as a reproductive health trainer since 1992, a health consultant and contributor in print and broadcast media since 2007, as well as a guest lecturer and speaker on nutrition and health topics at public lectures and seminars organized by various universities, government institutions, NGOs, and corporations. She is also the author of several health-related books, including Saya Pilih Sehat dan Sembuh; Resep Panjang Umur, Sehat dan Sembuh, and Anak Sehat Indonesia.
